Trying to get some information for the Areosoft A-10 painters. We're nitpicking Mitch's Lomac skins about the AFRES and the Star and bars not being right. I thought I remember Dice saying on SIMHQ that all the Hogs are now Grey and no longer the Camo green we seen in some skins?

Also, was/is the JAWs scheme ever used?
Appreciate any help

All flying Hogs are now grey.

There are still a smattering of green Hogs laying around, but they're all either can-birds or in the boneyard.

TG, the last active A-10 was painted gray in 1999 (Osan AB if I remember). The JAWs scheme(s) was never adopted and only used once in 1979.

BTW where are you guys talking about Mitch's skin?

Over on the Areosoft site, I was reffering Mathijs to sign Mitch up for their skinner and some of the 3rd party guys that did alot of the F-16 and Tornado skins were nitpicking some of the flaws in his Lomac skins.

The AFRES was to big, stars and bars was black and not grey.

This is the thread, maybe some of you Hog drivers can volunteer to beta test the FM

Muggs, the A-10s at Eglin are AFMC jets not "active".

Dice is correct, Materials Command should not be confused with ACC or any other NG/AFRC Combat unit.

I just looked at the 781's for those 2 jets last tuesday......they are not even close to flyable. They are both 75 models and amoung the first production A-10's delivered to D-M in 1976. But your right...they are green and they are on the flightline, they are training birds only now.

Well, I'm not going to get into an argument about semantics, but I'd like to see you guys tell the rest of the maintainers and aircrew that we here at Eglin and AFMC are not "active." Nearly every sortie flown here has a direct impact on the frontline warfighter, but I'll get off my soapbox now, unless you've been here I guess you really can't see it.

Your jets are in a test and evaluation unit. Get over yourself. Dice never said the maintainers and pilots were not active duty.

Muggs, just making a "side-ways" joke...should have put some smily in I guess.

I know what you guys do and with PE coming I know what you guys will be asked to do, I have a lot of respect for you and the Eglin crew, sorry for the bad joke....my bad!!

Dice may have made a mistake in choice of words. I believe Dice was trying to specificly reference Active "Operational Combat Squadrons".

As for being in your Shoes. I am A Retired Fighter/Test pilot With time in both OPS, FWICI, and Test. Dice is Retireing In the next couple months with 22+ Years as a maintainer. He is also the HQACC A10 SPO Representive.

Not to boast to much, but Dice is a Stud in my logBook. His would be some very tough boots to fill in my opinion

I think you need to lay off Mugs...yeah...I biased...he's a friend of mine. I was part of the LSET inspection team that inspected the unit at Eglin this past October & the A-10 guys are a bunch of hard working maintainers....they have to do a lot with a little...and like always, the A-10 guys are the outcasts, a couple A-10s to many F-15s & 16s.

Not....does that answer your question...and did you even read any of the above posts? The question was answered before you even asked it...

Boy has this one snowballed!!! I used a bad choose of words (word) when I used active and made it worst with my little joke. As MRMudd said I used it to mean Active, Guard, or Reserve jets and didn't mean to imply Eglin is any less a part of the A-10 community than any other unit.

Muggs is also a friend of mine (well maybe not after this) and didn't mean for this to go in the direction it has. Let's just let this one go.....

I will say it again, no one questioned how hard these guys work. The original basis of this thread was are all hogs now gray. Dice correctly gave the dates for the last Active unit to paint their jets gray. Muggs and now you made it an issue about how hard someone works and not about "active units" paint schemes.

You know...normally I just don't say sh*t, but I'm in a "special" mood today...so why not...I don't know you...Eglin is an active unit, so they don't fly combat sorties or combat training sorties, but each & every mission they do fly is important to the war fighter...without the testing and evaluation done at Eglin systems wouldn't get implemented....whatever...I didn't make it an issue...you did...and I won't waste my time arguing...Dice, Mugs, & myself all know each other & have worked together...if "we" are cool...I'm not worried about you....
