DIce, when I was there the CC's usually did it or had some one in the squadron who was a good atrist. At first some were even drawn in chalk! No idea where the paints came from. COuld have been the haji shop outside the compound or sent in via mail.

Hawg166, no I want to know who/where/how did the Desert Storm artwork. If you look at the art from DS there was some most outstanding work done but, these guys were in remote locations so who did the work? Was it the units CC shop and if so how was the idea transfered from idea, to an image, to the artwork on the aircraft??

Thanks Jb, boy I would love to see some of the chalk work! This is just me looking at the artwork I have colected and asking questions that come to mind.....

One of these days I will go to the shed and dig up my pics from DS1. I have some good photos of nose art from the beach. One of the best IMO was a panther jet (353rd), cant remember the tail number but James Sumerfield was the CC. The title was called "Play Thing" I believe. He 'chalked it' on. It was an awsome peice of work. A chick bending ove with a "g-String" on over a 30mm round. Well the Capt Suza(female MO 355th) got offended and james had to put 'dasiy dukes' on her, well that still didnt satisfy the capt so short shorts was the final product. As I said in another post, the only remaining nose art from a Myrtly Beach Acft is on the pedistal at the beach on 099. the "dawg-hog" (ga bullldog). We were told that if the acft flew a combat mission with the nose art it could stay, however upon returing to work after leave when we got home all the nose art was removed. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> I promise next time I get uptown to the shed I will dig thoes photos up for ya and scan them.

Well JB all I can say is what would it take to get you "uptown" and get those images for me? A 30th coin/SPO coin, a Hawgsmoke tee-shirt, a signed and numbered Hawgsmoke poster....what? <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

YOU GUYS DID ALOT OF NOSEART,THEY WOULDNT LET US DO.
THE CHALK WORK WAS DONE ON F-16'S TOO FROM SHAW AFB.
PROFITT AND HONER CAME UP TO THE "ALAMO" KKMC WHEN WE FIRST OPENED THE HOT PIT UP TO LOOK OVER THE AREA
PROFITT HAD A CHALK DRAWNING OF A EAGLE BREAKING THREW A "STAIN GLASS WINDOW" THAT WAS I THINK THE IRAQI SYMBOL AND THE OTHER ONE HAD A FEMALE ON A 1000LB RIDING WITH A ONE PC BATHING SUIT WEARING A SP BRET.
I WAS TOLD THE CREWDOG'S GIRLFREIND WAS THE GIRL.

BOTH DONE IN CHALK.
I LOST TOO MANY PICTURES.

Goose & Dice,

Play thing or time whichever was supposed to be the ACC's grilfriend. He was in my squadron Demon (356th) but was deployed with panther (353rd). I kinda remember his GF as she brought food everynow and then to him, it was a good likeness to her(at least to the skimpy shorts she wore when she came in the sq <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. Most of the chalk drawings were temp drawing that were painted over with paint. I believe it was mostly testors model paint. I am sure that there is someone here that can correct me if I am wrong. Lennyjoe should know as well as I believe he was in panther over there. Goose you were at KKMC? THe guy who drew the "paytime" noseart got deployed there about feb time frame. I never made it to any of the FOL's.

Someone getting offended by something trivial during a damn war.

That freaking figures.

Someone shoulda told her to go worry about maintaining Code 1 jets rather than worrying about some trivial nose art.

You had to know this Capt Suza. She was some piece of work. She was briefing us one day after we all got back. Chief Moser was our Command Chief at the time and he was present. After she got done she asked "Sgt Moser" if he had any words for us. He said yeah, how about some respect and call me Chief. Ah that was a good day.

JPig, you were a Demon? I was in weapons flight. Which flight was you in, A or B?

Some of the DS artwork that appeared on the 511th TFS a/c at Alconbury was signed by J Trago or D McCartney. HTH
