Thats it!.....its been staring us in the face all along!....thats how we can give the Hawg more power (the 3rd engine) to keep it in service through 2028....send the plans of the Cobra Rattler to Northrop Grumman immediately!

That pic was great and I'd still kill for a rattleter. You'll never see that kind of artistic liscence taken to the -chukle- "mighty" F-16.

Northrop and Grumman had nothing to do with the A10.

It was a Fairchild industries product, That was taken over by Lochead Martin.

I can imagine. Having the two engines there, we couldn't do ICTs. The fans on the first one would be a major hazard area I'm sure. Even if they like the idea of the VSTOL hog, they wouldn't do it becuase it'd be too much trouble maintaining it.

You could to ICTs...shut down #1 & #3, just leave #2 running....hotpits they could shut down #1 only & still pit....

With an ICT I can see them turning off #1 and #3, reloading, and then taxing to the pit, get filled up, and then start up the other two on the way to the runway.

Hell ya, gifted. But then again with the midle engine where it is there is no room for the APU. No self respecting Hawg would need a JFS.

Well at least someone found a way to make it slower by adding new engines.

Oooo! I see an opportunity to improve hover performance. Put a hinge in the aft fuselage so you can point the third engine down too. It would be a rip-off of the Grumman "Nutcracker" VSTOL/A of the 70's but I'm not proud.
