Talk about a mission and jet where <b>none</b> of your former training and experience carries over.

Any of you guys work the RTU jets at DM as CCs? Where you're waiting on the hot-as-hell ramp on the headsets, burning your butt off, while the FNG student in the cockpit stumbles through the pre-taxi checks line by line in the checklist?

Not much different at Holloman. <i>Slightly</i> quicker.

Would have loved to stay in the Hog, but at the same time it's interesting to see another airframe, especially one with the limited numbers as the 117 has. Also cool to be at a base where F-4s still regulary operate, though it was announced that the F-4 FTU squadron here, the 20thFS (right next door to my FTU), will close it's doors at the end of this year, coinciding with the German AF drawing down F-4 ops. German AF has a huge contingent here (a Tornado training wing), even have their own German elementary/high schools located in town. They probably have a worthwhile Octoberfest.

Interesting that Holloman is the only AFB I've seen with a McDonalds. I always thought that Army and AFBs had the Burger Kings, while Navy and Marine Corps bases seemingly had the McDonalds.

LOL. Good to know I'm not being given the boot here for no longer being a Hog guy.

They still let you fly with all your "goodies" like you did here? And have you made any more progress with your "part-time-job" on the range there yet?

I haven't gotten that high key on anyone's radar here.....yet.

You talking my Border Patrol employment on the range? I'm still at 21 illegals rounded up. ButI'm still very near the border, so I can keep my currency.

Well, if you get to the eighth, give me a holler. Nice to know someone on the board for real. I'm working dispatch for the next couple of weeks(not much different from the flightline right now, really), when I am on the flightline, the biggest thing we do is B-manning. I'll tell you, weapons here is boring.

Holloman has a McDs because the BK in Alamogordo squalled real loud and said the GIs wont eat at the one in town if one is on base.....so

I'm way late to this post but hey I say flying is flying. I'd kill to fly either the Hawg or the NightHawk, though I'm bias toward the Hawg oh course, but that dosn't mean I'll pass up the chance to rent a 172 or a Piper anyday. Flying is always good and you get paid for it.
