There are alot of changes in the hog community lately and many people are seeing very different perspectives to those changes. I think that alone will make us a quaralsome bunch for few years but itll calm down just as this site will much sooner.

BTW Props Hogpen13 for going toe to toe like in the engines posts.

There's so much to talk about the A-10 and it looks like the Hog has many years left ahead of him. Some folks may be intimidated to ask questions on the subject in risk of being stupid. Let's go for it and ask away!

Maybe folks are a bit uptight 'cause of all the rain at HAWGWASH...errr...HAWGSMOKE didn't allow for a full competition! <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

Still, compared to the days when they talked about shelving the A-10 and replacing it with the A-16 (spit), things are fairly calm. As it has been said, the future looks somewhat bright; but with all great things, eventually they must come to an end (sts). And speaking of which, if I may, <b>God bless Ronald Reagan!</b>

Hell the weapons troops already don't do any maintenance......all they know how to do is push a box and load the gun and bombs. Anything breaks and it is "PIGSSSS INNNNN SPACEEEEE!" looks all throughout their office and jobs loaded against my work center in mine.
I just figured well if I fix for them at least I know the jobs won't come back the next flight.
PE no longer scares me, since they have gotten me ready for it over the last several years of doing all thier maintenance. F#%King weapons troops!

First off I'd never start a pissing contest, that post was meant as a rhetorical comment and good-natured ribbing to Chili’s statement about weapons troops.

Secondly, as for who does what and how much. I’m fully aware of what it takes to turn an NMCS aircraft into a FMC killing machine, and I’ll admit ALL flight-line AFSC’s (some more than others) work entirely to many 12 hour shifts to accomplish it. That’s one reason while I was stationed at Pope I was so proactive in getting a three shift (servicing crews don’t count) operation, and you know what.. it worked. It didn’t completely eliminate the 12-hour shifts we worked but it sure as hell curbed them. Now if ACC would just catch on and officially allow us to do this I think everyone's life would be better off.

Ok back to the good-natured ribbing..

Now I didn't mean to ofend ya Lil Hitler. It was all good natured ribbin. I respect all the flight line AFSC's and I agree with you in that all too many of us are workin too long and too damn hard with little or no recognition. As the flight line we mke it happen everyday. Pilots see the fuits of our labors but no one else will ever fully apriciate what we do for a living. Thats what makes us the salty maintainer we are. This kind of forum is living proof of that.

As for who's name is on the Jet, I've seen heavys and 130's with dedicated specs on the side of the jet. My name is in the work I do on EVERY jet on my flight line. Though on the Hawg its the Crew Chief that takes responibility for the good and bad on his jet. I give props for that.
