You guys/gals may remember I had an idea a while back to update Horatio Hogbreath to better reflect the capabilities of the A-10 after the PE mod. I pitched the idea to Mr. Hank Caruso during Hawgsmoke 2004 but didn’t get the feedback I was hoping for so, I’m going to take the idea further on my own. I’ve found a local artist who does cartoon drawings of people in the local mall and I’m going to see if he can do a Borg-Hawg drawing (pen and ink) for my website and maybe to be used on “Hog Pen” tee-shirt later on.

I have a basic idea of what I want but need to “flesh it out” so to speak and this is where I would like your help. Of course Horatio will not be used because of copyright issues instead, I think I will use the “buffed-out” hawg like on my website banner but in full body profile. He will be a terminator style Warthog with Borg implants on his head and body. I’m thinking of half his head will be covered with a metal scull-cap extending over his right eye with a NVG green MFD style eye screen. A red LASER rangefinder on the left side of his head with half his snout, including the two tusks on that side, also being metal. His left arm below the elbow will be the seven barrels of the GAU-8A and he will have a medieval style armor vest (or maybe chain mail) to represent the titanium bathtub of the A-10.

That’s about all I’ve come-up with so far, any of you have any suggestions on what MR. Hogpen needs? Might as well put all this time I have on my hands to good use!!

If his right "hand" is visible, maybe an AGM-65 in it? The armour plate might be good, especially if it has rivets (warts?) portrayed, which we all know is what gives the ol' girl her unique physique. MHO.

Both Good ideas 30mm, I didn't think of rivets on the armor and that would reflect the large rivets on the aircraft itself...cool!

I know prkiii the A-10C will not be your daddy's A-10 that's for sure. That's also why I belive "our" mascott needs a little update also..we'll see what I come-up with.

Dice -

I like the idea of the integrated 7-barrel gun, but I think it would be better on his shoulder, like the Predator's laser cannon from the movie Predator. If it was mounted on his shoulder, however, it would have to be relatively small in comparison to the overall size of the 'Hog, but would allow him to hold other things in his left and right arms. As an alternative, you could have a GAU-8 style cannon hanging from a combat-rig sling in front of him, much like the mini-cannon that Jesse Ventura had (again in the movie Predator).

I would propose having him carry an H or K model AGM-65 under his left arm, and under his right arm he could be carrying a LITENING II TGP. These are two items that literally are carried, versus being integrated as part of the jet, and so your 'ultra warthog' would do the same thing. The left arm would be representative of station 3, and the right would be station 9.

You could also show him wearing a backpack with the tips of a few LGBs sticking up from behind him.

Just my .02 cents.

I'm curious, what did he say? Did he mention if he'd be producing more Horatio pictures or Warthog artwork?

I wouldn't overdo the Borg-style implants...though the A-10 is becoming more modernized, we don't want to forget that in the end, it is a lethal killer without all the crap we've been hanging on it over the past few years. An NVG-green style eye piece might be good, but leave at least half of his noggin' without anything on it...symbolizing that the basic, un-altered A-10 is still a very effective killing machine.

He like the idea of an updated Horatio but didn't go into what he would do to update him, we only had a few minutes to talk at a crawfish boil one night. He said he would work on something for my website but, I have not heard from him following Hawgsmoke, maybe time to email him and see if he came-up with anything.

Yes he is going to do more Warthog artwork, in fact, I belive next years (or the 06) calender will have a new Warthog drawing on the cover. He did a few drawings at the get together that night but, I only saw one for a few seconds as he was drawing it. It was Horatio in a "cajun/blues" style outfit and he had a cool hat pulled low over his eyes...I would love to see the finished product but, getting anything out of the NO Cajuns is like trying to get them to admit they like Boston clam chowder better than mud-bugs!!

Thanks for all you feedback and I will take it to heart.

Going to meet the guy tomorrow to go over some ideas. Thunderstruck, I'm going to see how it will look with the GAU-8 barrels as his right forarm showing the Avenger will always be the right hand of the Hawg!

Thanks to all for your ideas!
