It is position reporting for doing Simulated Flameout patterns. To make it simple...High Key is directly over the field, Low key is the down wind and base key is the base position.

As a minimum, I would use 1.15 x Vstall but as a quick and dirty for carrier approach for Navy planes, I like to use 1.25 x Vstall so:

at 26000 lbs minimum flying weight, Clmax=1.8, standard day, Vapp = 1.25 x 92 knots = 115 knots, At 30000 lbs Vapp would be 124 knots. How my doin'?

How about pick you touchdown spot, adjust speed to maintain desired VVI and AOA.

OK. Based on all the educated "guesses" and I do aprreciate all the responses, I am gonna use the round number of 90 knots based on 26000# gross weight, 5000# fuel, running slick, full flaps, open slats and gear up. Any rebuttles?

the AOA at 120-130 Would get you Long before you hit the 90Knot you want.


Regardless of the wing still providing the lift, A tipstall or The nose is going to Drop Forward and the VVI is going to rapidly increase in the decent/Departure.
I can see 110-115 as the extreme point for your needs as this would be in the edge of departure past buffet with a heavy fall throw and minimal control gain stability.
