Whats up fellas Im origanlly an F-16 crew chief just made Tech and got an assignment to Osan (25th)under that 2A3X3 AFSC. Anyways just looking for any info that you could offer. Hows the ops tempo for A10s, similar to the 16 world? What do they usully do with the young Techs, expiditor, assistant flight chief? Any info would help thanks.

Hey Jackb I just emailed you. Fellas I know some people who worked the A10, and some people who were at Osan. They gave me some idea of what it will be like. Just want some more opinions, Im not trying to get the daily flying schedule or some shit like that on the forum. Just trying to get some opions on how the A10 world might differ from the 16 world. Maybe how Osan is shopping, bars, 12 hour shifts? What I might expect as a new Tech, just general info nothing that might compromise OPSEC. Anyway right now Im stuck in Holloman on this stealth piece of shit. Cant wait to get the fuck out of here, even if it means leaving my family for a year.

It depends on your rank, techs usally go to the trucks, or prodject managers ect. High ranking staffs may go to the truck. Majority of staffs are line bosses, and dccs. airmen go to the line. long hrs lots of bars and shopping. fri sat 0100 hr curfew (very strict)rest of the week 1200. You will live in the dorm. Airmen share rooms, ncos share kitchen and restroom. SNCOs own room. get ready for long hrs. Other than that if you get here in may you may get my job.

Thanks Jack B lotta good info in there. Koob my RNLT is in May so I should get there around that time. Like I sai I just made Tech, Problably be all others, so I figure Ill put it on in July. Hopefully theyll give me a good job. I never worked A10s anyway, so what can they do? Truck wouldnt be bad.

Not trying to offend anyone, just how I feel LOL. Its really a bomber, yet they treat it like a fighter. You never know whats going on here.

Another question it seems I might have some kind of enroute training. I think its some knid of A10 familiarization anybody know what this class is all about. Is it just general systems or in-depth hands on kind of stuff?

Are you a F-16/117 Crew Chief? If so, it should be nothing more than a hot training course. Teaches you the basics, ie launch/recovery thru-flight, danger areas of the aircraft....

Yeah F16/F117, crew chief. Thats what I figured just wasnt sure, Thanks.

All the U-2 guys in the 25th who came from Beale with no prior A-10 experience were sent to Pope for like 2 weeks for some stuff, but not hot-training like A-10 folks have at DM. From what I heard from them, it was all classromm stuff, nothing on the flightline. I don't know, maybe THe split up popel equally between DM and Pope? Do you know where you have to go before getting to Osan?

No dont know where the training is going to be. Just got my assignment briefing last week and they said I would need enroute training. So I figured the only thing it could be was some kind of A10 familarization.

I leave Friday for Osan...see ya over there.
