I got an e-mail from a guy with the following information, and need someone to help verify before I make any chanegs to my database. This is in reference to my website http://www.pats-world.com/gulfwar/ and my database at http://f-106deltadart.intranets.com/default.asp and I think some of what he writes in wrong. Can anybody help me out here?

77-0133 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0133 "Combat Hawg" of 74th TFS

77-0277 is probably a typo error and should be 77-0227 of 706th TFS

80-0115 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0115 "Mud, Blood and No Beer" of 355th TFS

80-0219 of 509th TFS crashed near Alconbury on 04/04/89

80-0663 is probably a typo error and should be 82-0663 of 74th TFS

81-0979 of 10th TFW was not deployed for Desert Storm

81-0990 "War Pig" was not deployed for Desert Storm

82-0665 "The Last Tiger" was a 74th TFS a/c, I don't think it deployed for Desert Storm

Thanks guys,
Pat

Pat, if no one can answer your question(s) I will check my files later today to see what I have. One that jumps out at me is 80-0219, it a static jet at old Alconberry RAF.

Ok, thanks a ton. So 80-0219 must have crashed, and if it was in 89 and is on static now, maybe it never made it to the Gulf.

82-0665 should read "The last cool cat". I photographed it and sent a photo to Dice.

OK Pat this is what I show...

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>
77-0133 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0133 "Combat Hawg" of 74th TFS<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

True there is no 77-0133 but there is a 79 model

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>
77-0277 is probably a typo error and should be 77-0227 of 706th TFS
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

This one could go a couple of ways, there is no 77-0277 but there was/is a 77-0227 which was based with New Orleans during the DS period and a 80-277 with was based at Bentwaterd during the same period.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>
80-0115 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0115 "Mud, Blood and No Beer" of 355th TFS
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

Again true no 80-0115 but a 79 model but I show it at AMARC and it could have been based at MB during this time.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

80-0663 is probably a typo error and should be 82-0663 of 74th TFS
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

There are 2 663 let me look into this one more. I guess you want the 663 which was in DS?

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>
81-0979 of 10th TFW was not deployed for Desert Storm

81-0990 "War Pig" was not deployed for Desert Storm

82-0665 "The Last Tiger" was a 74th TFS a/c, I don't think it deployed for Desert Storm
<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

let me dig a little bit more on the above tail numbers and get back to ya. BTW the 665 door art is both cool cat and the last tiger...

Hello Dice, it was my e-mail sent to Pat that started this thread so let me add a bit more info ...

77-0133 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0133 "Combat Hawg" of 74th TFS. 79-0133 is the only 133

77-0277 is probably a typo error and should be 77-0227 of 706th TFS. Could be 80-0277 "Desert Dream" of 511th TFS deployed for Desert Storm, or 80-0227 but I don't think this a/c deployed for DS

80-0115 is not a A-10A serial, probably 79-0115 "Mud, Blood and No Beer" of 355th TFS. 79-0115 ex 355th TFS arrived at AMARC on 20/02/92

80-0219 of 509th TFS crashed near Alconbury on 04/04/89. Rebuilt as a GIA and marked for 10th TFW/CO with "Phoenix" nose art

80-0663 is probably a typo error and should be 82-0663 of 74th TFS. The other 663, 78-0663 of 355th TFS crashed on 15/11/88

81-0979 marked for 10th TFW/CO was not deployed for Desert Storm

81-0990 "War Pig" of 509th TFS was not deployed for Desert Storm

82-0665 "Cool Cat-The Last Tiger" was a 74th TFS a/c, I don't think it deployed for Desert Storm

The 511th TFS exchanged its 77- fiscal a/c with the 81- fiscal a/c of the 509th TFS before going to the Gulf. 18 a/c deployed and the rest were assigned to the 509th TFS while the Vultures were away.

Wow, this is great. Thanks guys. I updated my database. Does anybody out there have a complete database of all Warthogs? I have one for my F-106's ( www.f-106deltadart.com ) and I'd like to make a complete one for the A-10 and not just the DS ones.
Pat

HEY GUYS,

IF YOU GET A COPY OF "FAIRCHILD REPUBLIC A-10 THUNDERBOLT II "
BY PETER C SMITH.
IT LIST ALL THE SQUADRONS AND TAIL NUMBERS THAT FLEW IN THE GULF.

THAT WILL ANSWER ALOT.

AND TID BIT INFO 79-0133 AND 79-0137 BOTH CAME FROM THE BEACH IN 86 OR 87 TO THE 23TFW,AND AT FIRST BOTH WERE 76TH JETS THEN SENT TO THE 74TH

133 WAS PARKED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF 0164 FOR AWHILE.

Just to confirm, 80-0219 does still indeed stand static display at RAF Alconbury. I was there last week and took some pics of the 'Phoenix' noseart. It was recently repainted (in 2004) and it just doesn't look right...but it may have been correct for the 10 TFW/CC paint scheme. I am too used to the 81 TFW schemes of the early to mid-80s.

By the way, there is also a new AFN commercial with USAFE/CC Gen "Doc" Fogelsong where 80-0219 is in the background...

Cheers! M2
