Hawg166, I still give you credit for it because if you hadn't remembered me and bumped the thread, I would have missed the door. I could also use a high rez shot if/when you get a chance!

Hmmmmm, if the Crew Dawg ever wants to tell me the story I would be happy to listen!!!

I love your door and it symbolism! Something you can think about is a nice drawing of the POW/MIA place-setting with the Rose, plate, salt ECT. that has alway touched me.

Those are so awesome. I know that he hasnt seen them. I will give him a call and let him know where they are. Do you have them posted on the door art pages on the Pen ? I dont think I have seen them there. Also are you sure those are from 78-649 ? I thought that 649 was one of our originals that we got new back in 78.

Hawg166, you guys didn't get 649 until 1994, it has been assigned to Truax, Martin (a shot time), before getting to Barnes. I don't have (some) of these on my site because of Copyright issues, Philippe Colin ( http://www.philippecolin.net/ ) has given me premission to use his images but I haven't had the time to post them. Randy Walker has never answered any of my emails so I just keep copies of his photos for refrance.

Far as what jet they were on all I can do is trust the photographer's (S?) word. I have found a few mistakes along the way but the only way to truly tell is when you find a pic showing the whole aircraft with tail number, unit, and door art in one image. Again this is what I'm trying to do by documenting the art today so we have it tomorrow.

Dice and Hawg 166,

78-0649 is the good one for Hog Wash. The aircraft was assigned to the 174th TFW when I took the photo in Sept. 1986. I also have a full shot with the serial number, pilot name, etc..
Hope it helps,

Mephisto.

Sorry to dig up an old topic but Michael was kind enough to send me his door art images so I can use them on that Aerosoft A-10 for the MA ANG.

I've found all the tail numbers on Dice's site except for the "Ass Kickin Chicken". I think it's 696 from a picture on Philippe's site but not positive. If it's 696 what is the year as well.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

You are correct. 78-0696 is the plane with "Ass Kickin Chicken".

I took 649 over once it got to Barnes in 94. That jet was a great jet to work on. Who ever had it last really took some pride in it. 640 has really been a challenge since 96. My new wings have had me frustrated with clearance issues and other other stuff. It may fly again some time close to March. Maybe a new door art might fix it.
