Quick question for you...... even after trying to recharge the battery on my 928 i found that its still dead. (guess i completely killed it.....terrible huh?) So anyway I need to buy a new one but they are so heavy and i would love to keep lightening up the car to add to the speed. (i remember someone telling me to save weight and "remove un-necessary parts".....)

I remember you buying some kind of smaller dry cell battery or something like that a few months ago, got any tips that you might want to pass on?

Don't know which one he uses, But I Bought an "optima" For mine.

I mount mine in the Trunk, To help balance the Front Rear Weight Bias Transfer Off the Front End. Car is heavy enough even with an all aluminum Blown DOHC 32V 5.4L Shoe Horned in the Front of it with all Tube A arms and k member

Beautiful Pictures there Mudd!

Is the Optima battery smaller and lighter then the stock battery?

The battery of my 928 is actually already mounted in the back, the car basically has a 50/50 weight balance. I'm just hoping to keep working it up to the speed of Snipers "freak of nature" 928......what can i say i guess i just love my car!

I don't even remember what brand mine is. I'll haveta go look tommorow.

Optimas are pretty good too though.

The stock battery in the 928 weighs 42lbs, so yep, you can save a good bit of weight swapping batteries.

Great thanks Snipe!

I didn't know it was 42lbs, i know it was pretty heavy when i pulled it out yesterday though! I'll keep my eye out for a lighter battery, in the meantime i had to buy one (it was georgous out yesterday) and i just had to go for a ride!

Lead Acid batteries are insanely heavy.

I hear Ya about the Lottery nipe. Having Gave Up my High Dollar Job to be a Fulltime dad, is pretty Tough. I'm Glad I have accomplished what I have in my cars. OF Course it was also at the expense of saleing my Homebuilt plane and Other Hobbies. Can't have all the toys. I decided to keep the Ones that the Family can enjoy. With Cars. Its easy to invest into a neccesity for Day to day life.

Now It is just music and Getting a Band Together. And soon Hopfully Helping M&M with his Future 60's Muscle Car project.

I must be missing something...

Are you guys towing caravans or trailers

You've all got some serious muscle under your hoods, so how come the 0 to 60's are so high?

The sort of power Mudd's got should be able to pull low 9's in a vertical climb...

should be the 1/4 mile times... but low 9s would be top of the world class...

here:
http://www.fast-autos.net/14mile.html

0-60 in 12 or even 9 would be....

There is measurements For 60 Foot (launch) and the 1/8th mile to 1/4 mile times.

IF it was a gear and chain system and not tire/asphalt , the 0-60 times would be 2 Seconds or less. But that just doesnt work when your Sideways burning rubber. with a 2900-3200 lb Car.

So i don't Give it the Full monty when i launch, I wait till about 30mph ( even that can get ya sideways) but once i am out of 2nd it is all over for the other car becasue even though a Subaru WRX or specialty STI has the 4 Wheel Drive and awesome Launch speeds. Once im not slipping then i dont have to light on the pedal.

ut i tell ya nothing is sweeter than a 4 Lane High Way at 3 am with 4 S/C 600+HP V8's Putting the thunder down.

...Excuse me while i go spank da monkey now....

Snipe,

That's more like it...

Whilst the 911 is a neat example of engineering over the laws of physics, I've always had a soft spot for the old bruiser that's the 928.

Glad to see it can still turn in a decent 0-60...
