HI all

Has anyone got any pictures of the inside and outside of Woody's bar on RAF Woodbridge that they would be willing to send me some scans of for the Bentwaters museum database.

Also does anyone remember the 91st TFS squadron wall in the building attached to the hardened squadron operations building on RAF Woodbridge. We have removed the wall to be used as a display in the Bentwaters museum, but nearly all of the names on the wall are very faded/almost unreadable and we are trying to findout who's name was on it and their drinking prowess..... We have also removed a smaller piece of wall which has several peoples name on it from another social/bar area in the same building. This room has an A-10 windshield as a window, ring any bells?

See http://www.bentwaters-as.org.uk/html/news.html and
http://www.bentwaters-as.org.uk/html/museum_help.html for further details and pics.

We are still looking for pictures of the Hardened wing operations centre on RAF Bentwaters in operation, so if anyone ignored the sign on the mirrored door we'd appreciate a copy of the pics.

Any info can be emailed to myself or the museum.

Many thanks

Jon

p.s. if anyone has any 81st tfw related patches to trade or sell please let me know.

The good news is this is a 6 biscuit wedding. The bad news is we only have 5 biscuits!"

Is this the same wall that was signed by Tuck, Malan, Johnson, Bader, Finucane and the others from the RAF ? I might give my left nut to be able to see it. I read about it in Bobby Tucks bio but I didnt know if it still existed.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

As far as I'm aware Woody's has been demolished, as well as a large proportion of the buildings on Woodbridge. There is large scale redevelopment of the site taking place to cater for the Army who will be moving onto Woodbridge, or Hawker Barracks (as it may be renamed).

Hawg 166,are you are getting it confused with the 'blackboard' at The White Hart pub in Brasted near Biggin Hill where the Battle of Britain pilots used to congregate after the days battles?.....that was signed by a shedload of the RAF's famous pilots.
It is still a popular pub to this day.....I was there only last week.

Looking forward to the museum at Bentwaters, it was a sad day when the 'Twinbases' were closed.
Just a suggestion.....although a wild one, have you thought of trying to aquire the Hog at Alconbury? (80-219).......according to mmmax it is still there, it'd be better off located at a museum where more people can see it and back at its original home.

Hey BB mine was more of a question. I dont know where the wall was or if it still existed. I think MadMax refered to it in a thread a while back but I couldnt find the thread. I read about it in Bobby Tuck's (all bow before him) bio but thats all I remember. I know Tuck was at Biggin Hill around the time he met his future wife. I seem to remember him talking about the wall during the relatively same period of time. So if you could fill me in I would appreiate it. If you could send me a picture I would grovel at your feet.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

I do remember that wall...but I thought it faced the east overlooking one of the HASs...and the drinking prowess was in honor of your fastest time downing a "Yard of Ale"...I believe mine was 18 seconds and not too far from the top. That wall would have been in the Sqd bar...complete with the veneratd full length poster of Ms Heather Locklear in nothing but a small towel!!
Ah...the good ole days...

HI Exa

Bad news I'm afraid..... We never found the pic of Miss Locklear.....

Good news though - The wall has been fully restored and remounted in the Bentwaters museum.

What was your Callsign? Let me know and I'll confirm your drinking time.

Cheers

Jon
