Gooooooooooooose!

Okay update, word is that the Hulk figure is a better choice for the whacked out muscle look. It has been reported that he can be purchased at Target (on sale) for $7.99, but from the looks of it the Hulk figure will be unable to hold the GAU 80 weapon in his hands

Doesn't look like the head is removable either, but you may able to add a material called "Sculpty" to form the head into a Warthog. I have *NO* idea how to work with that stuff! They keep talking about a baking process for the stuff to harden. The green color? I'm sure that would be easy enough to paint over. I think you would have to custom make the clothing for this figure as well as he stands taller than most other standard size 1/6 figures.

Here's a customization using the 13" Hulk figure (you don't have to be logged in
to view this one)

http://pub133.ezboard.com/fmenwithdollsfrm1.showMessage?topicID=8637.topic

In that post link the customizer used a product called Model magic for the sculpting and acrylics to paint Hulk red. I'm assuming that is what he used for the horns, so it would work for the Warthog teeth.

Another product custmozers have recommended is "Sculpey Flex" which has been reported to be more pliable than Sculpty and is boiled rather than baked. If the head can't be removed the flex product is probably better because the figure would hold up to boiling and not baking in a oven.

milliputt is also v good for modeling with - i used to use it alot to make modifications to my models when i War Gamed. it needs no baking or boiling - it comes in a 2 part form and when mixed together starts to set, u can lengthen the setting time by adding water. it then air dries rock hard

Remember this thread? with my patch sales going well I belive I may have enough money (after I sell this next batch) to get this idea off the ground. I know I talked tee-shirts, hats, or coins but, I think this is one of the best ideas I've ever had and now I'm going to see if I can made it happen.

I'm going to start looking around the internet and see if there are any fantasy artists who would be willing to work this project and how mush $$ it would cost me. I belive the comic book or fantasy style is the best way to go with the vision I have in my head. If I could get a "master" done in...say... standard poster size I could have it sacnned and produce prints, shirts, or whatever I wanted with the image.

BTW goose, I think the figures ideas would be harder than a drawing but, if a drawings doesn't work-out I may go back and look at that idea again.

I'll keep you updated on where I go with this....wish me luck....

Dice is off on another projet....

Dice cant you have the artist draw the image then project on to the door proportionally with a computer projector, then trace in the out line. My thoughts would be if you could jet the image on of the first a-10c as homage to history of the aircraft the image stands a lot better chance of staying on the plane long term. Call it a tribute to the past, and vision for the future. Some how you could work in the new capabilities of the aircraft.

Or you could do it as a series of images going back to Gulf War One when the aircraft did more than most thought is was capable of at night, against sams, scuds, etc, basically using Smallwoods book as the concept. With a-10a passing the GAU-8 to a meaner more buff hog that is respectfully looking back at dad. Just an very rough idea.

Mattlott, I'm moving away from the door art idea because I'm no longer in the AF so, I will never have my own A-10 door art.

I'm now looking at a tribute to all who have flown, worked, or supported the A-10, past and present, in the form of a print/poster and even a tee-shirt. The details are far from worked-out but I'm getting the ball rolling while I have the $$.

No...no....it just this thread started out as a door art vision but it's now move to a peice of art-work and not door art project. Don't worry I would not know what to do with myself if I didn't have a couple of projects in the works. The book is still on but, I haven't had the time to work on it much since I was made project office for the PE installs. By the time I get home from work, take care of the two kids dinner, laundry, and get ready for work the next day ...my day is shot!! I'm still collecting both images and stories behind the art and orginizing them for the book so.....keep the info coming!!

I guess I normaly have two projects going at once, a short term and a long term, the book is a long term (not to long I hope) and now the art will be my "short term" project, after finishing with one more order of patches. I've have this "vision" in my head for a long time and now I may have the money to... get her done! If my record holds true it will get done because I don't think I have given-up on a project once I desided to start it....it may take me a little while but it gets done!

Then show me what you can do, come-up with a draft of a conan style half-man half-warthog. I don't want any copyright issues what-so-ever so it has to be completly different than Mr. Caruso's Horatio Hogbreath.....
