Although I think the British SLR's were designated FN, not FAL. Same thing, different name I recon.
The MoD then spent a serious whack of dough to re-fit them all, and they are still piles of crap.

They were called the L1A1 or something like that. FN is the Belgian maker ( Fabrique National ) FAL is the name of the design, stands for Fusil Automatique Legere or Light Automatic Rifle,in english lol
