Some Hawg photos from a great week hosted by the outstanding people of the 926thFW/706thFS and the 917thWG/47thFS back in March, along with the great company of fellow photogs Nigel Lulham, Don Logan and Philippe Colin. As this message board is really 'Hawg Central' I thought it would be the best audience to share the pics with. Hope you enjoy them. Dice, I'll get a CD of high res stuff to you when things die down here a bit.

Regards,

Kevin

Damn!!!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/bounce.gif border=0 align=middle> I can't decide which one to make my screen saver!

The first set really give meaning to "Gunsmoke"! You might want to consider several hi-res CD's...you're going to be asked!! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Holy s**t, I believe this is the first time I've seen rounds caught in flight on a still photo!! <img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Kevin these are destin to become classics!!

I count 6 rounds in the last photo...will be looking forward to seeing the highest rez stuff. You, Nigel, Don, and Philippe produce amazing stuff and I want to say thanks to you all for sharing with us!

What shudder speed where you using??

30mm, Thanks!

Dice, yep, I was surprised to see the shells, at first I thought they were dust spots and was going to clone them out!

I borrowed Don's awesome 600mm so I'm not surprised at the quality considering the $6000 price tag! Mate it up with my 1D mk2 and you've got a $10,000 combo!

Checked back on the file info and I was shooting the lens wide-open at f4.0 which gave me a shutter speed of 6400th of a second, so pretty quick. ISO was set at 250 so I could get a super fast shutter speed. I hoped I'd freeze the shells but I never really expected them to be visible. I'm sure you've seen hundreds of GAU-8 shots but I'd be very surprised if I was the only one to capture the shells.

I'll dig out another one tomorrow, gotta go to work now.

Cheers,
Kev

The next question is HOW did you get them; <i>i.e.</i>, were you in a tanker, on the ground, etc. Regardless, those are poster shots...BIG poster shots!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

The 5th one down is "Marlin's" Jet. Funny enough He was the First one to get over the Range during Hawgwash04 Before it Got weathered In.

those are just awesome Kevin. I love the banked shot and then the foursome with all the pilots looking at the camera.

Great photos, absolutely professional!!!
Thank you especially for the actual verification of aircraft „635“ (Tailcode „NO“) from the 706th FS, which is really a combat unit!
This single (no action) picture is a welcome addition to 706th FS´s photos, taken and published by Philippe Colin.

DAM....nice shots. Never been a fan of grey Hawgs, but you make them snap. I didnt notice the rounds, but I did notice the art about 3 feet to the right of the ladder door. Any close ups of those?

Did I mention those pics rock? <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sorry for the delay 30mm, all the pictures below the close up of the banking 47th Hog were shot from a KC-135, the rest were either on the Clayborne range in LA or at Alexandria Airport for the NVG shot.

Glad you like em.

Cheers,
Kev
