I just found out today that we're sending 2 jets to Oshkosh this weekend and I was able to schmooze my way on the trip!
Just wondering if anyone from WT was going? I'll be standing in front of the B.C. Hog holding the polished round and listening to people ask me, "Are you the pilot?"....."No maam, I'm just the mechanic."......."Oh, when will the pilot be back?"

Anyways....I'll see ya there!

I would think only the people who don't really appreciate the military and airshows make that type of comment. When I went to Otis for a base visit I wanted to make sure I was able to get ground crews working on the jets and not just the pilots in them.

The crew were awesome about me taking pictures of them.

This weekend is an open house for the 103rd CT ANG wing. I'll be there as well. Dice, I'm assuming you already have all the door art from this unit but if not, I'll do my best to collect pictures of them.

I've heard a lot of strange things at airshows from the uninformed!
Like; "My uncle flew back seat in these in Vietnam". One guy was showing his girlfriend where the emty 30mm casings were ejected from the jet. I figured she was buying it so I didn't ruin it for him. I get quite a few laughs at airshows!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
One lady tried to start arguing politics and bad mouthing OEF/OIF. I just smiled and remembered that i'm representing my unit and refrained from giving her an earful.

I have what was on the doors in 2002 during OIF but, I have no idea which ones might have changed. I can build a thumbnail listing of the images I have if that would help.

Is the openhouse at the 103Rd open to the public???? If so i'd like to take my kids on a road trip!!!I've been by the base but never on it . I've taken pictures of the A-10 on the stick out front but no flight line shots ,,, Thanks Dana

Yeah I believe it is an open house. TopGun and DC there is also an open cockpit free day at the New England Air Museum about a half a mile from the 103rd. I really cant emphasize how badly you guys need to get there for a few hours if you can . There are literally one of a kind aircraft there. You would be doing yourself a great disservice if you were able to go and didnt. Its a great place. <img src="http://www.neam.org/images/b25_lg.jpg" border=0>

Whoa, nice pictures Bill.

Sorry for not getting back to this post.

Dice, they only had 3 planes on display and 2 of them had ladders up against them. The 3rd I had a pilot check but no door art. They had a pretty weak showing of aircraft with the pilot kept appologizing for. F-16 from Atlantic City, USCG Dophlin from AC, T-38 from Randolph and a Blackhawk and Chinook from across the ramp.

They had 3 of their own A-10s set up, one so the kids could sit in. One that you could just climb up the ladder and look into and a 3rd loaded with all the weapons. The "load master", not sure of the title of the guy in charge of loading the bombs , was very nice to talked to as was the pilot "Stain".

Dice, I did get a picture of their Gate Guard if you're interested. Bill, that A-10 was pulled out of the Museum for the Tomcat I believe. I saw it out on the right side and now the Tomcat is in it's place.

Regarding Barnes, I'll be there early Friday Morning, I'm staying at the Ecno Lodge just off the exit. Made my reservations yesterday as I stopped down to eat at the Airport cafe. I'm coming solo so if we can hook up for a beer Friday night after the arrivals I'd really appreciate and would like to meet you?
