Gotcha - no worries then, thanks.

I like to take whatever spare time I have & spend it on patch collecting rather than Photoshopping

schatzi - welcome to the board, glad to have another HogFanatic around.

Kungfu, funny you should mention the marking for birdstrikes, we did that with one of our aircraft in Afghanastan. Damn jet kept eating bird after bird...

We did that with two of out jets over there Hitler. Don't you remember, or have you gotten so old you forgot already. There was one we drew a bird on each time it hit one, and the other was the Tasmanian Devil strangling Tweety Bird. I wish I had a picture of those, but almost all my pictures from over there didn't come out.

Dice- I asked about what constituted a "kill" mark on the side of the jets here from the deployemnt. One mark for every time a munution was dropped. Whether it was a kill or even at a target didn't matter. There was one jet that had a hung bob, so it went out to an isolated area and the pilot jerked up on the stick a few times and it fell off. It's on the side of the jet. Another one kept having some gun problems. It would take off, test fire, check bad and come back. This went on like 7 times before it was fixed, but each of of those test firings of the gun is on the side of the jets as well.

They say that the only two things certain in life are death and taxes. I prefer them in that order.

Why do I remember seeing that? Did you guys do this at "The Bag"? That really does sound familiar.

You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!"

That's why they seem so familiar! I went straight into The Bag in 2002, so I'm sure I saw them there.

hey...maybe those seven mystery markings are older. Say, 1999 or so?

Just a thought.

Coack

Barnes, Battle Creek, and Boise were deployed in 1999 to Trapani AB in Sicily for Kosovo operations. We were called the "Killer B's". We painted those same bomb markings on all the jets after a successful sortie. Most of the markings remained on the jets for a long time after returning to CONUS and only disappeared after going to paint!
I can only speak for the B.C. jets but I'm pretty sure they are from Kosovo ops!

Maybe the kill marks are just old and the jet has been to the wash rack a few times

Ah yes World War Trapani, whew that was a rough trip. I never knew there were so many different kinds of pizza. But I was lucky, because I went to the FOL in Hungary. Gotta love Budapest in the summertime.

Yes it was rough and that $72 a day per diem wasn't nearly enough for my bar tab!!
Didn't get to go to the FOL though. I was working night-shift at Trapani and staying at La Fenice or as we called it, "Bedrock".

Nice! I gladly gave my key back at the top of the hill when i left! They also tried to get 60k Lire out of me for scratching up one of those rental mopeds.
Remember the smell in the bay in Selinunte from all the seaweed?
Nasty!!
