One spec that I have not been able to locate is the distance required for a Hog to take off with various load weights, and the distance the plane needs for roll out on landing. Does anyone have any data on the takeoff distances for an empty A-10, and a fully loaded A-10 (51,000 pounds), and the rollout distance required for landing at a typical weight?

If you work at LocMar and have access to a -1-1, you can the information yourself.

It depends on many factors.

Like Coach said, it depends on runway slope, wind, temperature, RCR, etc. It can be read right off the cahrt in the Dash One. There is no single number.

1. Not too much.
2. An awful lot.
3. Again, not too much.

I am going to have to call a B/S on Chili here. After two pilots give respectable answers why did you feel the need to be a smarta$$? With only 6 posts and no profile maybe you should establish your credibility before responses like that?

Maybe, before you call someone a smartass, you should ask about his credentials rather than imply that he has none. And since you elected not to, or were unable to, answer Big Hog Fan's question as well as Coach and Warthog30 but are so quick to criticize, you have joined the very small group of Hog enthusiasts who completely lack a sense of humor.

How about this chili. The first 2 posters actually gave the him a location to find his answer, if he has a need to know he can find it. In my humble moderator opinion you are a smart ass and are treading on thin ice.
You want to be taken serious? Put something on your profile that gives anyone a clue. Most of us dont have the patience to play 20 questions with you.

Read carefully, kids.

I said that Coach and Warthog30 answered the question well. I didn't provide any more or any less information than did they, and mine was intuitive.

M+M, you imply that a bio gives a member credibility but fail to note that Fenderstrat72's bio is completely empty also, and he started the name-calling. Is he treading on thin ice? What qualification does he have to call someone a smartass? You're the moderator and it's your show but you're not being consistent.

Ever been to an airshow and heard one of the A-10 jokes: the trailing edge bird strikes..., the Dempsey dumpster..., the pointy end...,etc? Do you guys put on your serious frown face and tell the guy he does not have the qualifications to tell such a joke and that he's treading on thin ice? You're taking yourselves a little too seriously.

If you were a curious poster as well as observant you would see that fenderstrat is ALSO a moderator. He was calling you out on your cavalier first response. If you must know....NO he is not treading on thin ice. Neither is anyone who might be making disparaging remarks at an airshow (I dont help moderate those). A-10 jokes? Hell I make 'em myself sometimes. fenderstrat called b/s on your post, nothing more. A true A-10 guy has a pretty thick skin for such things. My response would be that YOU need to get a sense of humour. You seem to imply that you have an A-10 background;....lets hear it sport.

Chili,,

I'd back down right about now before M&M nails you. Fender doesnt need to post a BIO ,
alot of us served with him, some have even served with M&M,Coach and Warthog30.

Now If my old "Brain" serves me right I remember a "Airstick " with that Call sign "Chili.

If your in the Hog Family someone here will know you. Just name a squadron and someones "Nickname" and what they did.
because right now I'll go along with the "B/S" call -out on you.

We're not a "Freindly Troll site"

Goose

Oh and yes, I dont need a Bio either these folks know me plus some have served with me also, before you start to tear me down.

OK. Now I get it. The moderators tolerate, condone and participate in name-calling of people whose bio's they don't have by people whose bio's they don't have but know personally.

Sgtgoose1, I appreciate you piling on. But your comment that Fender doesn't need a bio flies in the face of logic. How does a visitor to this site know anything about him? Or about you? You two don't need bio's but others do...

You and several others on this forum have served with me and I with them. I'm sorry to see that this forum has stooped to such an infantile, inbred, incestuous level that outsiders are treated so poorly over an utterly trivial issue.

So while I quake in fear over what M+M will "do" to me, I request that the moderators remove me from the database and I'll trouble you no more.

Somehow I knew it would come to this. Like I was going to "do" anything to him. I typically leave that to the admin guys. Its a pretty typical response, folks walk right in, dont introduce themselves and immediately start throwing rocks.

Like he's the first person to ever post a smartass response on this forum! <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

Why the dogpile? Seems like this one went ugly early, but for the life of me I can't figure out why! Is there something I am missing here?!?

Cheers! M2

He's not a driver but a maintainer Coach. I guess I could have stopped this a while back because I have meet and worked with Chili but figured he could handel himself so I didn't say anything. Also our meeting didn't end well (not him personaly but what happen later) so I was not going to be the first person to step-up and defend him, just hard feelings on my part I guess.

This may high-light something we all need to do and that is fill in some info in our profile for "new people" visiting the forums. Most of us do know something about each other but, if we are going to call BS for no proflile then we should have a proflie oueselves IMHO. In fact I'm going to add some stuff to my now. I also understand some don't want to have info in their profile in this day and age and that's cool also.

Maybe next time an email to the person letting him/her know who you are (or at least your A-10 background) would stop things like this in the future.

Guess he wouldn't have lasted long here anyway because, how many of us have had BS called on us at one point or another but have not asked to be deleted from the forum data-base because of it??

not to get into specifics but would the hog with its design beconsidered a short takeoff and landing plane. I know one of its early selling points was its ability to operate forward on less than ideal runways. As it has done in Afganistan.

I wish I had read some posts in the last couple of days to end this early too.
Just thought I'd add my 2 vents of this topic as well to pile on after Dice. Chili's a hell of a guy and a sharp maintainer. I've worked with the guy for years and he did alot of work during Suite II's testing phase. Its to bad that we don't have him on line any more cause he was a great asset to the Spec flight here.

Don't anyone get to ruffled over an issue like this. I tend to agree that this forum has moved more and more to a "Good 'ol boys club" that is not always tolerent of anyone steping in. The comment that started all this was not even all that. Lets let the whole thing die and everyone give a little thought to how we appear to a casual reader.

As far as the accual thread Coach is right. The info is in the -1-1 and reads as a set of graphs. Ramping up the distance as temp, weight, wind, altitude (baro pressure) increases. Just like Warthog30 mentioned.

Peace out.

Already done. Has anyone noticed in the members section that there is a "chili kerch" and a "chili". Obviously 2 seperate folks.

Good point M&M, I'll have to ask if Chili Kerch if he's both. If not, then disreguard my last post this thread.
