Well I cannot say I am a huge fan, but...If my team sucks, I might as well root for the home town guys. A Super Bowl win would be huge for the city of Seattle. The last time Seattle saw a championship of any pro sport were the NBA Seattle Supersonics of the late 70's.

Pittsburgh looked good in their shalacking of Denver. Roethlisberger looks more like a 9 year veteran, than the 23 yr old second year QB that he is. I hope its a good game. Should be, two well coached teams with great players.

Looks like a good game in the SB, will be rooting for the Steelers though. Really like Big Ben but realy disslike Bettis due to his lack of effort when he was with the Rams.

SEATTLE REALLY impressed me sunday.

They have a real shot to win the SB.

Snipe since you are from PA are you not hoping for a Steelers win? Or are your Philly ties so strong you would root for the Seahawks?

Vs. Bulls, '96

It's interesting (and frustrating) how the Pacific NorthWest seems to produce fairly decent teams, but can never pull-off the big win. I watched TWICE as Washington State University made it to the Rose Bowl only to lose, the first time by following their time-honored tradition of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

They lost to the Bulls in the 96 NBA Finals. I believe they defeated the then Washington Bullets to win the 1978 or 1979 NBA Finals.

The University of Washington did share the NCAA #1 ranking with the University of Miami in 1991, and the also were ranked #1 in 83 or 84.

As for WSU. They find a way to "coug it" of course they did produce Ryan Leaf who choked throwing that late interception against Michigan in the "98" Rose Bowl. But Snipe is right, the Seahawks looked pretty damn good against a very good Panther team, so who knows...Maybe its their year.

I know they lost to the Bulls, I thought the statement was in regards to having made it to the championship game, and not strictly a win.

Sonics lost to the Bullets in '78, got revenge against them in '79. It still chagrins me that a team named the "Bullets" was in a city that banned them.

I havn't liked the Steelers since Bradshaw retired(showing my age, lol).

I don't dislike them, and i don't really have a favorite in this game. I was merely making an observation.

Seattle REALLY impressed me(i had Panthers winning it all), and i think they have a real shot to win. Course, that don't mean they will...

LOL

I don't know about this one...

Steelers are better than their record, and for the first time have their first team healthy and ready to go. I was listening to the Dan Patrick show on ESPN Radio yesterday. He made an interesting observation: No team has been as dominant as the Steelers have the last two years in terms of victories. But like the guy in the commercial...What happend durring the regular season mean nada.

I, not being much of a sports fan, but living within shooting distance of Seattle, would like to interject something. I guess you could call it my unbiased, educated-by-past-practice opinion.
The seahawks, or, "seachickens" as they are lovingly refered to here during a bad season, are notorious for kicking butt in the first 3 quarters, then losing the game in the 4th. Even if they were ahead by 28..... That's my prediction!
....Or wait a minute.....maybe that was the Mariners....

Hey Chadrewsky, whereabouts out here do you live?

Sun? What is that, I don't remember.....been about 3 months since we've seen it over here. Record rainfalls happenin. Guess they won't be able to cry "drought" this summer!
And I do miss the snow. I grew up in upstate NY, where snow was abundant. Though late last year we did get 8 inches that stuck around for 3 weeks. That was kinda nice....

Bill Cowher is a choke artist.

I expect no different this Sunday.

Yeah, but Holmgren has won it all once before.

Cowher...i've watched that man lose for so long with so many super talented teams that to be honest i doubt he'll ever win the big one.

Sunday is his chance to prove me wrong, the Steelers SHOULD by all rights win.

Cowher has always had chumps for QB's. Neil O'Donnell made Larry Brown in 96 a household name, I still cannot figure out were that last pic was intended. Kordell Stewart never could come through in the clutch. Big Ben is the first legitimate top flight NFL QB Cowher has ever been able to work with, and...Unless you have an obscenely good defense (see: 85 Bears, 2000 Ravens, 2002 Bucaneers) You cannot win big games with also rans like O'Donnell and Stewart.

Shanahan had Elway, and hasn't been back since, Holmgren had Favre, now he has Hasselbeck, Johnson/Switzer had Aikman etc...A good QB can help a marginal coach win, a bad QB will break a great coach's heart.

He had chumps for QBs because he picked chumps that play QB. That's his own fault.

I fully expect Pitt to choke.

Seahawks........2006 SB champs?

I think so. ;)

Forcasting what success a QB will have in the NFL is as much luck as it is skill.
Remember Art Slitchter, Todd Marinovich, Dan MaGwire, Ryan Leaf, Kerry Collins, Tim Couch...

The fact Cowher won Division titles with the likes of Stewart and O'Donnell is no small feat. Cowher has won, and if you think the man is a choke artist, then you need to say the same about Andy Reid who has a great QB.

Seattle should win, and thats who I am rooting for. But...Like all Super Bowls, its who shows up with their A Game.

Cowher won all those titles with defense, a running game, and playing the safe %s. They also played in a very weak division for many of those years.

Playing the 'safe' way also cost him MANY playoff games.

And to the contrary, IMO, Pitt SHOULD win. Top to bottom i like their roster WAY more than i like Seattle's. If Pitt loses yet again it will be good ole' Big Chin Bill's fault. :)

BTW, you could certainly make the case that McNabb is a choke artist. Not so sure you can do so Reid, but McNabb....yeah, you could make a decent case of that.

One play stands out in my mind with McNabb, and it was that 4th and forever completion against the Pack in the playoffs...I don't watch much Eagles football, but that play in the clutch impressed me.

Cowher gets a lead, and then sits on it with good defense and a ball control running game, he has shown though [with Big Ben as QB and Ken Wisenhunt (the next Raiders head coach) as offensive coordinator] the guts to throw more, even later in the game. But, Cowhers system does work, and it will be vindicated if he wins a Super Bowl. Madden was considered a choke artist untill he finally won it "76", immaculate reception notwithstanding his winning percentage is only second to Lombardi's. Reid wins, but hasn't nabbed a Super Bowl. The moneky is always on the back (or choke label for that matter) for the coaches that win, but don't hoist the trophy. I am not sure that is fair, but thats the way it is. I think Cowher might open things up some, now that he has a QB.

Its a cruel NFL world out there. I was still a kid when my team last won a championship.
