HA1301 1/72 A-10A "Thunderbolt II" 118th FS/103rd FG "Operation Iraqi Freedom",
flown by Maj. Pete Siana

This is a 1/72 diecast model coming from Hobby Master in 2007. For anyone who cares. Door art, dice? Anyone have any pilot/aircraft history for this one?

Nope, that's all the info available. Thought someone might have a cross reference on the pilot. Someone else thought it might be "Chopper Popper".

The Chopper Popper was retired after Desert Storm and is now on a stick at the AFA....

I have basing history (where they have been assigned) on every A-10 built and, as you know, lots of door art but, I would have to have a tail number to start with.

I did find this and the aircraft is assigned to the 103rd (78-0646) but, the pilots name doesn't match. Wonder if the company could have their info wrong on the "Operation Iraqi Freedom" aircraft tail number/pilots name, which we all know happens a lot with things like this?

I'll see if I can track down anyone associated with the company. Their other planes are very well done and researched. Would hate for this to be the first one to slip.

Dice, supposedly the aircraft is 78-0707. If my memory serves me correctly (always a crap shoot), this aircraft was delivered from Hagerstown to the 174FW at Syracuse. When the 174th coverted to lawn darts (fast ass CAS)it was transfered to the 103rd where it has lived ever since.

OC, if it's 78-0707 it was delivered from the Hagerstown plant to the 128th FW, Truax ANGB, Wisconsin on 9 Jan 1981 and then moved to the 103rd on 1 Oct 1992. Here's the door art it carried during Desert Storm (which it didn't deploy to)...

It has had this artwork (and I think still does) for many years after being transfered to the 103rd and I believe during OIF...

Damn Dice, I forgot all about Truax having A-10's at one time. Hey, I knew it was one of those cold places .

Still does 30MM..and I think the correct spelling is with an "e" if it matters. Also, he should be L/C by now.

30MM, let me check the spelling of his name; I'm pretty sure it's spelled Sienna. Or, if you have global, you should be able to look it up. Just make sure you're more correst than your WT posts
