Well I get the paper to-nite look thru it ,Who died,whats on sale etc... then look at the "BEST SHOT" part of the paper where you send in a picture and the Paper chooes's one each week to print to get a week of the paper free, My Moth picture last year won one week.

Well this lady gets a shot of 4 aircraft flying over POCONO RACEWAY
in July this year.
The picture is described by the Potographer as "F-14's " flying over the raceway.
Its 4 "A-10's"<img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_cussing.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>
Come on, I guess she couldnt even read the program, F-14's <img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

So I wrote a Nasty Gram to the Editor of that section telling him
"AHHH, Those arent F-14's their A-10's the WORLDS BEST TANK-KILLER!
So please write a Correction and send the info to the Photographer .

I'll tell you what the response is.

I have no problem with the lady not knowing, but the editor of the Newspaper should have researched the picture prior to printing.

This seems common for papers not to know the difference.

Was stationed at Aviano Dec 1980-Dec 1982. Before the Lawndart wing was sent there from Torrejon.
We used to support massive C-130 Elephant Walks. Send out 20+ Herc's loaded to the gill's with troopers.

Local paper once showed liked 15-20 of them lined up for takeoff and noted them as B-52's!<img src=newicons/tard.gif border=0 align=middle>

Its been happening for years and really dont see it ending!

IIRC there was a thread or post a year or two ago about an unintentional way to get the Hawg to fart flames at start up.

What are you kidding? A news Editor research facts before printing? Much less even look at the picture first? C'mon, it's media in the United States for pete's sake. They can't be bothered with stuff like 'facts'. That would be responsible behavior and you know they don't know anything about that. They will wave the 1st Ammendment if your face and claim they can say or print anything they want. They have to go for the scandal, fluff or soap opera stories. Screw the news and reporting the facts. Which celebrity is going into rehab? When is the wedding date? Facts, BAH!!!

The only time you see "Afterburners Blasting" on the A-10 is when the pilot forgets the inverter switch then flips it on during the middle of the engine start sequence.<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

As of right now, No response. If I dont get one by friday I'm sending him a picture of an F-14 and a A-10 and let him tell me
"Thats F-14'S FLYING OVER THE RACEWAY'"

But at least their listed as "F-14's" GOD FORBID IF THEY WERE LISTED AS F-16'S!

Well I called, got answering machine so I figured I'd fight fire with fire so I sent a picture of 4 A-10'S flying to the
"BEST SHOT" and wrote
"4 A-10 WARTHOG's flying over Iraq in 1991 It is sometimes called "The Ugliest JET" because of it's design so its the one Jet that you "CANT MISS INDENIFY ".The A-10 is also one of the "Greatest TANK KILLERS" of all time.

So lets see If He gets my point.

Only the early build hogs with the 'explosive engine pod ejection bolts'(as first exposed by Janes defense) had afterburners.
