Nice picture from the A-10, it is indeed a nice one for a wallpaper.
But what is that red round painting thing on his engine?

The helmet is just cool.

Thanks for sharing.

Salute Dutchy

Dutchy,

That's the logo for the Boston Red Sox MLB team.

Dice,

That one is on a door up at Pope, I've seen it just didn't have a camera with me that day.

Damn-it Hitler you know you should always have your camera at the ready! <img src=newicons/saevil.gif border=0 align=middle> I've got to reconnect with some friends at Pope so I have someone there to get me shots of things like this.

Do you know anyone there Hitler who we may have known before at Shaw or Moody?

Zero - I thik I remember you now. I remember a pilot putting the skull and crossbones on the back of his helmet when we were in Kuwait in 2002. But I thought it was out of electrical tape. He never let us put the helmet bag in between the glareshield and windscreen, we had to keep it on the ground with us. And he also always gave the Crew Chief a set of keys to hold for him while he was flying.....is that you?

Yup, that was me. The first iteration of helmet designs came on an ONW deployment- it was a full color skull and crossbones done in the Yankee Air Pirate design and affixed to the helmet with the same laminate we cover our maps with- didn't work too great because the curvature of the helmet made the design wrinkle. The 2002 OSW version was made of electrical tape that I had cut to create a "Punisher" style skull- same thing during OIF in 2003.

You'd be surprised as to how much more you can see out the front of the jet without a bunch of crap like helmet bags, saddle bags etc piled up there- it's even worse in the C model- you can't fit much up there. And it wasn't keys that I had the Crew Chiefs hold for me- those were my squadron RMOs, or coins. I had read about guys doing that in Vietnam and wanted to continue the tradition- kind of a way of saying, you take care of these for me and I'll take care of your jet for you on the other side of the fence.

Cheers,
Zero
