Anyone have anything big going on that isn't work related for 2013?

Ill start things off by saying next week my wife and I will be closing on what is more than likely going to be the last home we ever buy/live in.

We are expecting our first child, due 15 Feb, that should be fun.

Other than those two things my biggest project this year is to start beekeeping. I've been reading up on it all winter and am getting ready to purchase the hive soon. If you have never looked into it, it has to be one of the most interesting hobbies I've ever started. If you know a lot about it please share, I know I still have a lot to learn!

So now keep the thread alive and share your big plans!

What about your tractor?

I'm signed up to run a full marathon in April, that will be a big challenge. My goal is to just be able to finish it. I've done 2 half-marathons and I do lots of medium length races like Tough Mudders and Spartans, just gotta train myself up from 13 miles to 20 before the race.

Does a PCS count as work related? I expect to get orders now that I'm back to being a Crew Chief, but God knows when. It's ridiculous this wait.

Try tractor's lol. I now have the one you saw in ga and another that came from my dad. The first is a 1946 , the second is a 64 but a low boy, looks totally different. He also gave me a 1963 cub cadet 70, which is a normal lawnmower size machine, but has the same transmission as the larger ones.

I have started tinkering with my old 1946 dodge pickup as well, hope to have that running nice this summer.

I would love to run a marathon someday, seems like a huge personal goal to set for yourself

Still job hunting. I took a position as a PSA at my local Lowe's store, and trying to keep up with 2 kids half my age. The job sucks but at least it's positive cash flow and I get to keep my house for the time being.

My wife hits her 18 month benchmark for being in remission next month. She was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukimia in the summer of 2011, and spent nearly 6 months going through chemo. Once she's past the 18 month mark, her chances for the AML coming back drop dramaticly.

Perry, best of luck on the closing and with the baby. It sounds like you are jumping into the deep end. As one who has owned 2 houses and who does most of his own work on them, feel free to hit me up with any questions about home maint you might have. I spent a good bit of last summer re-wiring the garage and installing a shower and moving the water softener in our WY home. I don't know much about young'ins, but I do know electrical, plumbing, landscapeing, and structural. I have even minded a few shingles over the years. I'm always happy to help.

Perrar1, cool on the house and best of luck to you. WOW your first child, I have three (ages 22-13-8) and they will change your life. My only advice is enjoy them EVERY day because they will be gone before you know it.

Ice Pirate, so glade to hear about the wife that has to be hard to life through, she will be in my thoughts!! Hey man about the job, I know that has to suck but hang in there and teach them kids a thing or two. :D I'm so thankful I still have my job but, that may not last long much longer, we have been so slow at work you would not believe it.

I don't have much planned for this year except work on my A-10 door art book. Other than that just going to try to survive the year and enjoy the time with my family along the way. 8-)

Since I just got back from a 76 day deployment to New Jersey, I think I'll try to take a vacation. Probably to visit family in Arizona, but mountain passes this time of year are a bit sketchy. Oh well.

Almost halfway through the year- my updates:
Marathon c/w. Finished it in under 5 hours, which was my secondary goal to just finishing it. That distance was new territory to me, and I now know I could knock off 15-20 minutes pretty easily if I did it again, now that I know at what point how hard I can push myself and stuff. 10 min could have came off my time if there were more portajohns and I didn't lose time standing in line.

PCS c/w. I'm in the Bulldogs at DM. But still in the phantom zone as to what my job will be. I've been here 2 weeks and have heard 4 different answers (on the rare occasion I hear anything). Just chilling right now.

Status update on the bee-keeping Perry?

1) Live long enough to get a signed copy of Dice' Ode to the Hawg door art book.

2) 30MM Jr stopped being an officer for the Scott City, MO P.D. to be a deputy for the Bolliger Couonty Sheriff. May become their Narc detective.

3) Daughter has 4 1/2 months to go in the Persian Gulf.

4) The light at the end of the tunnel is retirement, not a friggin' train!

Didn't get to start the bee-keeping this year. I have been reading books and gaining info, but with everything going on this year I couldn't add bee-keeping to the wife's list of crap to do. It's bad enough being in tech school with one baby in the house, adding 10k more to the mix would probably only get being murdered added to my list of shit going on in '13 lol.
